Karmelitermarkt Market

Let ivie guide you through the Karmeliterviertel

The Karmeliterviertel in the 2nd district is an authentic, unpolished neighborhood with a Jewish history that is still very much tangible today. A large proportion of Vienna’s Jewish population lived in the 2nd district up until the Holocaust. Today, the Karmeliterviertel is once again the epicenter of Jewish life in Vienna. The Karmelitermarkt is the heart of the neighborhood and is all about culinary indulgence. A diverse and exciting bar scene around the Karmelitermarkt shows just how hip the district is. The walk starts at Schwedenplatz in Vienna’s city center.
