Mar 9-27, 2022: Foto Wien Photo Festival

The Kunst Haus Wien will be hosting the Foto Wien photo festival for the second time this year. More than 140 exhibitions and somewhere in the region of 300 events will put photography in the viewfinder. Museums, galleries, project spaces and billboards in public places will show new photographic positions as well as works from various photographers’ workshops. The festival will be flanked by a comprehensive program comprising symposiums, talks, a photobook market, studio visits and guided tours at a host of locations throughout the city.

This year’s edition of the Foto Wien photo festival will focus on two main areas: Rethinking Nature, which will explore the key role played by photography in perceptions of nature. Many artists are contributing to our appreciation of the current environmental situation by using the potential of photography to reflect on the critical relationship between humankind and nature. And secondly, Female Photographers in Focus will zoom in on the outstanding work of female photographers since the invention of the medium in the nineteenth century, helping to publicize their achievements and clearing the way for them to claim their rightful place in the history of art and photography.

Mar 19-27, 2022: WIKAM – Vienna International Art & Antiques Fair

Mar 25-27, 2022: SPARK Art Fair Vienna

The SPARK Art Fair Vienna platform for art fans is back for a second time, following the successes of the inaugural event. In 2022, its organizer Renger van den Heuvel will be back with yet another unique exhibition design consisting of 90 individual presentations, three curated sections and a mix of Austrian and international galleries. The art fair’s special format puts visitors into direct contact with the artists themselves. In 2022, SPARK Art Fair Vienna will once again present a selection of works that have yet to go on show alongside pieces created specifically for the occasion. Three special sections – SPARK Expanded, Photography and the Fourth Wall – have been created by renowned international experts Christoph Doswald, Bettina Leidl, Marieke Wiegel and Fiona Liewehr.

May 5-8, 2022: 15th Art Austria

Art Austria is celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2022. In honor of this milestone, two marquees will be set up in the main courtyard of the MuseumsQuartier (MQ) connected to MQ Arena 21 and the MQ Ovalhalle hall. The newly-designed main entrance to Art Austria will be located right next to the main entrance to the MQ. 45 artists from Austria will be showcasing works representing multiple styles from early modernism to contemporary.

May 12-14, 2022: VIENNA CITY GALLERY WALK

The concept of Transience will set the tone at the Vienna Gallery Walk once again in 2022. Art tours of numerous exhibitions and galleries featuring works by a diverse range of artists put inspiration center stage. For the first time in conjunction with music and literature.

May 12-15, 2022: PARALLEL EDITIONS

In spring 2022, PARALLEL VIENNA will present its new concept PARALLEL EDITIONS for the second time after 2021, in addition to the famous art fair in September. This time round, the Atelierhaus der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien in the sixth district – where 1,000m² of exhibition space awaits – has been selected as the host location. The subsidiary format focuses on editions, graphics, multiples, figurines, objects, sculptures and art books. It follows a completely new approach which sees art editions given center stage at an art fair. Editions appeal to a broad audience as they appeal to art fans and collectors alike, and provide an ideal way in to the art market for first time buyers. The curator team will hand-pick a maximum of 40 galleries, project spaces and art initiatives, who will be invited to exclusively showcase artists’ editions.

Note: All art fairs are held in compliance with the current official COVID regulations. Please make inquiries about prevailing circumstances before your visit.
