Wien im Rosenstolz
The Wien im Rosenstolz festival, established in 2001, brings the Wienerlied to the stage of the Theater am Spittelberg every evening from October 1 to 31, 2022. This is perhaps less about the classic, stirring and vinous Wienerlied than it is about an exciting series of concerts that presents the modern-day variety of Viennese music. About 40 artists and ensembles present their Wienerisch tones, melodies, and rhythms in a colorful and self-assured way. Fancy some name dropping? Ina Regen, Wiener Blond, Agnes Palmisano, Katharina Strasser, Ursula Strauss, Die Strottern, Ernst Molden, and many more will be there. Time to meet them.
Wien Modern
The 35th Wien Modern festival turns Vienna into an international platform for the latest developments on the art scene from October 29 to November 30, 2022. New music, including 57 world and 20 Austrian first performances, can be heard at 25 venues across the city: The works are by 48 female composers and 65 male composers. The festival topic: 100 attempts at dealing well with complexity.
One example: Georg Friedrich Haas' four-hour concert installation ceremony II, which on November 20 will turn the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien into a freely accessible sound labyrinth. 75 musicians will enter into dialogue with the paintings. To be heard for the first time in Vienna: a reconstructed microtonal Renaissance organ with 31 tones per octave.
ViennaJazzFloor
The month of November brings a whole bunch of jazz and blues to the city. At the ViennaJazzFloor 2022 festival, nine Viennese jazz clubs (Jazzland, Sargfabrik, Reigen, etc.) present domestic and foreign greats of the scene. The pallet ranges from classical jazz via blues and swing to modern, impro, and funk. And all at more than 130 concerts!
Voice Mania
The most diverse instrument is the human voice: The is proved by international vocalists at the popular a cappella festival Voice Mania from November 4 to 30, 2022. Vocal acrobats likes Rock4 (NL), Maybepop (D), and Die Echten (A) present high-class vocal art entirely without instrumental accompaniment. Venues are the Metropol and the Theater am Spittelberg.
KlezMore Festival Vienna
The KlezMore Festival Vienna dedicates itself from November 5 to 20, 2022, to Jewish world music, from traditional sounds to contemporary Klezmer interpretations. Readings, films (including the popular silent movie matinées), and presentations round out the program. The nine performance venues are unusual: From historic concert halls to a cinema, from theater to club.
Blue Bird Festival
The Blue Bird Festival is a three-day indie folk club festival. At the renowned jazz club Porgy & Bess, a dozen acts perform in front of around 1,500 people from November 24 to 26, 2022. The audience at the Blue Bird Festival is diverse and especially welcoming to newcomers; Actually, it is an often mentioned strength of the Blue Bird to present new, exciting bands and singer/songwriters alongside established artists.
