A glimmer of sunshine at the start of summer: as in previous years, the 41st Danube Island Festival – Europe’s largest open-air party with free admission - will set the hearts of hopefully more than 2.5 million visitors racing.

17 themed islands – 14 stages – 700 hours of entertainment

The festival weekend between June 21 and 23 turns the Danube Island into a party zone for three days. National and international acts ensure a lively atmosphere: Austropop legend Wolfgang Ambros, indie kings Wanda, Viennese originals Voodoo Jürgens and Nino aus Wien, superstar Ronan Keating, chart-topping Alice Merton and pop stars such as Semino Rossi and Peter Kraus are just some of the names on the long line-up.

Diversity is showcased on the various stages and what are known as “theme islands”. As well as pop music, lovers of electronic music will also be in for a treat. Drag Race Germany winner Pandora Knox will be DJing, as will Austrian techno export number 1 Anna Ulrich. A pre-lunch drink with brass band music is also part of the program. Austrian cabaret plays a major role again this year, with Nadja Maleh and Andreas Vitásek, among others, keeping the audience laughing.

Danube Island Festival program

Action, fun and participation

Away from the stage action, the Danube Island Festival invites every visitor to join in – for example at the Sports Island, the Action & Fun Island or with activities offered by the Austrian Armed Forces, the Samaritans and the police. The workshop program includes DJing, yoga and lots of dancing. The children’s and family program is equally attractive, especially on the OKIDOKI Kinderfreunde Island. The Edelstoff pop-up design market is the best place to go for souvenirs or gifts for yourself.

In the spirit of solidarity and cohesion

The Danube Island Festival has always been an event for everyone: young and old, Viennese locals and visitors alike, night owls and culture lovers. There will be a grand symbolic opening with an inclusive concert for children and young people with disabilities. Donating the two euro cup deposit will go towards helping children and young people from socio-economically disadvantaged families with tutoring, leisure activities and healthy snacks.
