Ugly Vienna with a wink

Beauty is known for being in the eye of the beholder, but some things are just really ugly. The occasional building in Vienna has not turned out so successfully either. Once a month, native Brit Eugene Quinn presents a total of 19 houses on his guided tour "Vienna Ugly: Tour of the worst buildings". The roughly six kilometer-long walk leads from the Hungarian Cultural Institute (takes some getting used to) and a green-blue (not political!) ministry to a substation in the heart of the historic first district.

Quinn hopes the tour will stimulate debate over the possibilities and opportunities for new architecture in a city whose center is characterized by magnificent imperial buildings. His commentaries on the individual buildings are humorous and informative at the same time.

The tour is held in English only and costs 10 euros. No registration required.

All information and dates for the tour can be found here.
