Butterfly House at the Burggarten in Vienna
A waterfall, small ponds and bridges create a picturesque backdrop. The Butterfly House takes visitors into a fascinating realm in the middle of hundreds of exotic, colorful butterflies that are allowed to flutter freely around. Butterflies in wonderful colors fly through tropical vegetation close up, and they take an inquisitive look at visitors or float from flower to flower in their search for nectar. The climatic conditions are perfect for these beautiful creatures at a pleasant 26°C and 80% humidity. This makes it a relaxing and also informative activity at any time of the year.
Informative display boards in the Butterfly House provide information about these wonderful insects and provide an insight into the lifecycle of a butterfly. The so-called “pupa box” even enables visitors to see how butterflies emerge from their cocoons. Furthermore, the huge and colorful Atlas moth, with its magnificent patterns and a wingspan of up to 30 cm, can also be seen here.
