Bruegel as a 360° experience

A newly developed 3D tour makes it possible. It allows you to look at the smallest details of Bruegel's masterpieces but also conveys all kinds of content and background knowledge on the work and life of the world-famous painter, who was born in around 1525/30 in the Netherlands.

In technical terms, the 3D tour offers every trick in the book: the arrow keys enable visitors to navigate conveniently throughout the room, while even tiny details in the paintings can be made out using the zoom function. Because the quality of the stream makes it possible to observe the masterpieces from right up close. Music specially composed for the 3D room provides the musical setting.

Particular attention is paid not only to the virtual experience of the paintings but also the provision of background information. Clicking on the information point labeled with an "i" takes visitors to many other interesting pieces of information.

The Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna houses the world's largest collection of works by Pieter Bruegel the Elder. Twelve important paintings, including "The Tower of Babel" and "The Peasant Wedding", are on permanent exhibit. Thanks to the 3D tour, it is now made accessible to interested viewers from around the world. Apart from German, the tour is also available in the following language: English, Dutch, Russian, Chinese/Mandarin, and Japanese.
