The Theater am Spittelberg has a very special flair - after all, it is a former Viennese "Pawlatsch theater", as covered open-air theaters in the suburbs were called. Today, it has undergone modern renovation and stands in the heart of the smart Spittelberg district near the MuseumsQuartier.

Concerts and comedy shows are held here every evening from June to September. The Summer Stage is used by popular artists of the Viennese scene as well guests from abroad, all of whom entertain the audience with Viennese songs, Balkan grooves, world music and cabaret.

The four months of daily happenings right across the city's cultures bring around 120 performances and 700 artists to the Viennese scene. The event makes the Theater am Spittelberg a cultural world living room with a family atmosphere.

Talking of family: children are very welcome here. Every Sunday there is a special program for the little ones - a colorful mixture of music, theater and clowns is offered throughout the summer.

Program variety in Viennese style

Among the artists on the Summer Stage 2019 are the singer-songwriter Ernst Molden, who goes on a sound journey with Hans Theessink, the unconventional women's power formation Kernölamazonen, blues singer Meena Cryles, the duo Wiener Blond with Wienerlied beatbox and trendy loops, the Strottern with their essence of Viennese, the Trio Lepschi, Der Nino aus Wien with his morbid-existentialist ballads and Folksmilch with jazz folk in a witty-creative chamber music crossover.
