Albert
Mario Bernatovic has previously cooked sensationally at a wide range of places in Vienna. He is now doing so in his restaurant called Albert in the 8th district. And in the very best style. What is the Albert exactly? Part cocktail bar, part wine bar, part bistro. Bernatovic likes to use the description "neighborhood restaurant". One thing is for sure: the dining experience here is unbelievably good. Bernatovic is known across the city for his steak tartare, and for the 60-minute egg with Perigord truffle. We were also impressed by the octopus poppers with squid ink mayo and pea and bacon purée.
The staff are extremely attentive, as is the chef. The ambience also fits: high ceilings, comfy velvet chairs, and a bit of shabby chic on the walls. There's a long bar, at which the guests can drink a cocktail in convivial company. Because the drinks are also something to be proud of.
