Count Lacy had the Neuwaldegg Palace Park laid out in the English style in the 18th century, the first landscaped garden in Austria. Some of the design features, such as the famous boulevard as well as ponds and stands of trees can still be seen today. On the Hameau, the highest point of the park, the Count had seventeen chalets built to accommodate his guests. One of the little houses is still in existence today. Since the estate passed into the ownership of the aristocratic Schwarzenberg family, the 80 hectare site has been called Schwarzenbergpark. The City of Vienna purchased the park in 1958 and opened it to the general public.

As Schwarzenbergpark is very easy to reach by car and public transport, it is popular with walkers, hikers and runners alike. City hiking trail 3 and the Rundumadum hiking trail both pass right by the park and invite you on further tours of the Vienna Woods.
