Virtual Reality: Discover Vienna with the Future Bus
Witness the assassination of Emperor Franz Joseph I? Look over Maria Theresa's shoulder in her study? Or perhaps go on a coach ride with Empress Sisi? All this becomes possible with the Future Bus, an exciting multi-sensory experience that plays out on multiple levels. The bus ride departs from right in front of the Albertina, behind the Vienna State Opera. But what usually happens on a normal city tour – putting on headphones, listening, and looking out of the window – takes an innovative turn on the Future Bus after the first stop.
Spectacular 360-degree view
The gong sounds, the participants put on a VR headset and dive into the history of famous Viennese places. They then become part of past epochs in a free rendering of the motto "in the thick of things, instead of just being there". Thanks to a virtual 360-degree view, Vienna's history is tangibly close – a direct and impressive encounter with the past. Because the Virtual Reality sequences are beautifully produced and have been created by professional actors, animators, directors and sound engineers. A large number of special effects also contribute to this virtual adventure.
The Ringstrasse as the central stage
The historic virtual city tour lasts one hour. It starts off along the Ringstrasse, but also visits the MuseumsQuartier, the Naschmarkt, and Schwarzenbergplatz. Tours are offered in 11 different languages. Full details on the tour can be found on the Future Bus website.
