In its children's opera programme, the Vienna State Opera gives the first taste of opera air. For example in Mozart's "Abduction from the Seraglio" (as a touring theatre version that leads through the magnificent premises of the opera house - in German language) or in Rossini's "Barber of Seville".

At the MuTh, the concert hall of the Vienna Boys' Choir in the Augarten, the choristers present a classical program as well as world music and pop through to children's opera. At the Friday Afternoons, they present their latest repertoire. Each season, the Boys' Choir performs a third of the MuTh program. This leaves lots of room for welcome guests such as festivals or children's theater.

At Vienna's Volksoper, opera is not just for grown-ups. Children's productions are also shown, such as the ballet comedy "Max und Moritz". Kids with an enthusiasm for music experience singers up close and personal at children's workshops and learn all there is to know about opera, ballet and instruments from the theater's artists.

In the House of Music, young fans of music can 'virtually' conduct the Vienna Philharmonic, give the drums a good hit, or experiment with music on the computer - and then record their own CD.

The Vienna Musikverein offers project series for all ages between three and nineteen years. Special attention is paid to active collaboration, from getting the very youngest to sing and dance along, through to discussions with international leading conductors and soloists for 15 to 19 year-olds. The Wiener Konzerthaus offers a special program for kids, including sing-alongs on a range of different themes.

The Marionette Theater at Schönbrunn Palace offers an experience for the whole family in an imperial setting. The skilful use of the precious marionettes combines with state-of-the-art technology. Performances are given all year round, including "The Children's Magic Flute", the "Children's Fledermaus", "Aladdin" and "Ritter Kamenbert" (Knight Camenbert).
