Kunsthalle Wien

Founded in 1992, the Kunsthalle Wien with its flagship venue in the MuseumsQuartier focuses on showcasing international contemporary and modern art. It does not have a collection of its own, instead focusing on various aspects of art through individual and themed exhibitions. The Kunsthalle Wien commissions new works and partners with national and international artists and institutions. It organizes exhibitions and publications based on the latest research and aims to offer artists a platform.

The Kunsthalle Wien is worth a visit not only because of the exhibitions it hosts. Both venues combine modern art with contemporary architecture. In 2001, the company moved into a functional new building designed by the architects Ortner + Ortner in the former baroque Winter Riding Hall in the MuseumsQuartier, in the immediate vicinity of the mumok – museum of modern art ludwig foundation Vienna. A glass cube by Adolf Krischanitz is exhibited in the Karlsplatz branch. The café there has a huge terrace and invites you to stay a while after marveling at the art.
