Get ready for fun in the Prater

The Prater regularly hosts fun events aimed at families and children, including family Sundays, vacation play activities, concerts and Prater rides. The Prater Adventure Tours offer guided tours on specific themes – including a look behind the scenes. The wide range of entertainment on offer is complemented by more than five dozen cafés and restaurants, buffets, ice cream and snack stands.

Pure relaxation

The youngest visitors to the Prater in particular will feel right at home on the gentle Ringelspiel, Punch and Judy show, the Altwiener Grottenbahn, historical rides for children and the Land Train. These activities are age-appropriate and at a suitable pace – and the adults accompanying them can relax just as much. Older youngsters and, of course, adults may be attracted to more action – adrenaline kicks are provided by some of the other high-tech rides.

A ride on the Giant Ferris Wheel

Make sure you don’t miss out on a classic: a leisurely ride on the historic Giant Ferris Wheel (1.7 mph!). The view of the city from the top, 64.75 meters above the ground, is unforgettable.

Madame Tussauds

Would you like to meet Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Falco, Angelina Jolie, Justin Bieber and Michael Jackson? At Madame Tussauds on Riesenradplatz, you can marvel at 90 wax figures that are strikingly similar to the originals. The life of Empress Elisabeth, also known as Sisi, is staged as a spectacular 5D experience (with smells!) in the “Sisi Uncovered Experience” exhibition. Grab the microphone in the interactive Music World and sing along with the stars!

For the youngest magic fans

Magic World Vienna is introducing children to the world of magic this weekend as part of its “Magic for Kids” program. The 60-minute German-language show is filled with amazing tricks and magic acts. Please book in advance.

Relax in the Green Prater

A green recommendation is the 6 km² “Green Prater“ with its wide expanses of lawn and playgrounds. It is located right next to the Wurstelprater. A bicycle rickshaw (available to hire near the Hochschaubahn) is a convenient way to explore the Green Prater, allowing you to cycle along the paths away from the 4.5-kilometer-long main avenue.

  • Open season at the Vienna Prater is from March to October. However, the famous Ferris wheel and some other attractions are open all year round.
  • The prices of the individual attractions range from €1 to €20, while admission to the amusement park is free.
