Cameron Mackintosh’s new production of The Phantom of the Opera has already completely sold out in the UK, the USA and Australia, where it was performed at the prestigious Sydney Opera House. Now the production will enrich Vienna’s musical scene too.
Everyone has heard of this thrilling yet mysterious story. The spooky catacombs under the Paris Opera are haunted by a phantom, whose heart is set on the young singer, Christine Daaé.

The production captivates with spectacular special effects, including the legendary chandelier, the beloved story and Lloyd Webber’s romantic music. Songs such as “The Music of the Night”, “Think of Me”, “The Phantom of the Opera”, “All I Ask of You” and “Masquerade” are known the world over.
World-class Viennese cast
Anton Zetterholm (Elisabeth, Tanz der Vampire, Pro 7 TV show “Got to Dance”) returns to Vienna in the leading role of the “Phantom” after many roles on stages around the world. Clémence Veeneman (Les Misérables) makes her Vienna debut as Christine Daaé.
Roy Goldman (Miss Saigon, The Hunchback of Notre Dame) is Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny. The directors of the Paris Opera, Monsieur André and Monsieur Firmin, will be played by Rob Pelzer and Thomas Sigwald. Milica Jovanović returns to the Raimund Theater in the role of opera diva Carlotta Giudicelli. Patricia Nessy (Elisabeth) will take to the stage as Madame Giry. Greg Castiglioni will perform the role of Ubaldo Piangi, experience of which he has already gained in London’s West End. Laura May Croucher completes the cast as Meg Giry.
160 million tickets sold, 70 theater awards
The original production of The Phantom of the Opera is one of the most successful musicals of all time, with more than 160 million people attending productions in 46 countries, 195 cities in 21 languages and winning over 70 of the most prestigious theater awards (including 4 Olivier Awards, 7 Tony Awards, 7 Drama Desk Awards and 5 Outer Critic Circle Awards).
The original Broadway production had broken every box office record by the end of its 35-year run, while the London production is now in its 38th year.
