Please note daylight saving time with regard to sunrise and sunset times. On the last Sunday in March, the clock is put forward by one hour during the night (daylight saving time), and in October it returns to “normal” time by turning back one hour (wintertime).

Vienna is well worth visiting at any time of year. In spring, Vienna is particularly colorful, thanks to the abundance of flowers and sidewalk cafés. In summer it is hot, with many outdoor events taking place and the Danube to cool you down. In the fall, the parks and vineyards light up in red, orange and yellow, and there are fantastic art exhibitions. Winter is magical too, thanks to the New Year’s concert, Christmas markets and the unique ice rinks. 

What kind of climate is there in Vienna?

Vienna has classic continental weather, characterized by distinct seasons. Hot summers with occasional rainy days and cold winters dictate the “right” choice of clothing. In spring and fall, temperatures are pleasant but can be a little chilly due to the wind.

How hot is summer in Vienna?

Even Vienna is not immune to climate change – summers are getting hotter. Above 30°C (86°F) is considered a heat day. There are several of these in summer. On particularly hot days, temperatures can exceed 35 °C (95 °F). The evenings are lukewarm, usually cooling down somewhat at night to around 20 °C (68 °F). Summer storms are also possible.

Does it snow in winter in Vienna?
